The city of Union in Union County, Oregon is the home of the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show which is located in the east Delta region of the city. The city, which was created in 1865, has a population of just over 2000 inhabitants and celebrates a Show which has been in existence since 1908. It advertises itself as the ‘Oldest Show in the North-West’ and part of the show celebrates the states links with horse racing. The three day show normally takes place in early June, with racing staged on a 4 furlong oval track with a separate 366 metre chute. The racing programme includes thoroughbred and quarter horse races, with the principal race billed as the Queens Handicap.
